I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all men the testimony given in its proper time. 1 Timothy 2:1-6
When we pray for our Governor, we intercede on their behalf aware of their unique calling in life. Their job is one of the most difficult anywhere. They are called on to make decisions that impact a state and a region. No matter what they do (or do not do) they are criticized. We are called to pray for their ability to remain strong when they have to make unpopular decisions. We should pray that they heed God’s voice more than human ones.
Standing on the wisdom of God's Word, we know that no matter what political affiliation or leaning, as Christians, we are given the great privilege and responsibility to pray for our leaders - with the good pleasure of our Lord.
You're invited to join in the creation of a steady stream of prayer for our leadership - starting with our governor, and continuing with the dream of adding our county, and city leadership as well.
So, why not start now, with our Governor, Kathleen Sebelius, and develop a schedule of prayer: daily, weekly, however best suits your gifting and rhythm of life.
