Since 1999 I have been serving as the Director of Mission First Coast. Mission First Coast is a City Reaching group in Jacksonville, FL.  MFC is an interdenominational Pastors’ group with a leadership core of 14 pastors representing 12 denominations and a Leadership Team of 25 Pastors representing 25 denominations. We are focused on breaking down denominational and racial barriers on the First Coast. Our motto is “Linking Hearts Together to Transform the First Coast for Christ.”  The purpose of MFC is “To serve the Body of Christ as it mobilizes to present the whole Gospel to the whole First Coast that it might be transformed for Jesus Christ.”  Its primary focus is on building unity among Pastors through prayer and personal relationships. I have served as the First Coast Coordinator for the National Day of Prayer since 1998. MFC is responsible for the National Day of Prayer Activities on the First Coast hosting the event in City Council Chambers and in several other locations across the First Coast. I developed and implemented the Adopt-A-Cop Intercessory Prayer Ministry, this is a ministry involving more than 250 churches that pray for Police Officers by name everyday and for decreases in crime in our city.  Since 1998, Jacksonville has been recognized twice by the FBI for the most significant decreases in crime in America.  I have provides leadership for several major events sponsored by MFC.  These include numerous leadership training and prayer gatherings for Pastors and Intercessors, all across the First Coast. As the ED of MFC I have developed a dynamic relationship with our city government, the Mayor, the City Council, and the School Board.  God has allowed me to find favor in this community and to become a recognized voice for the faith community.

I have devoted myself to promote and model racial reconciliation in Jacksonville and across the First Coast. This includes being involved in Black communities, preaching and teaching in Black Churches, involvement in ministerial alliances and personal relationships with Black Pastors in our city.  Since 2000 I have been on the program of three Black Pastors Conferences.

Personal Testimony and Call
I grew up in a Christian home and in a Southern Baptist Church. I knew as a child that I was a sinner and Jesus died for my sins. When I was nine years old, I accepted Jesus as my personal Savior and Lord, while attending the Adair Park Baptist Church in Atlanta, Georgia. I grew in my walk with God throughout my school years being very active in Youth activities and Youth choir.  I entered the Navy one year after finishing high school.  When I was twenty years old, I yielded my life totally to the Lordship of Jesus Christ. I began to let the power of the Holy Spirit control my life and budding ministry. It was an exciting time in my life, but equally exciting was when I felt God’s call on my life to full time Christian service. My calling to full-time ministry was born out of my struggle to fulfill God’s will in my life. I had a growing desire to know God and His Word more deeply and to share that knowledge with others.  I am humbled by God’s call on my life.  It is a wonderful privilege to share my life with those who do not know Christ and to disciple those who are growing in the faith. I thank God for choosing me to be His child and revealing to me that real joy in Christian living come through total commitment to His Son. My wife and I have been married 35 years and most of that time we have served the Lord together in the local church.  We have always purpose to make Christ the center of our lives and our home. We are a team, committed to seeing God manifest His love, grace and power in the lives of those He has called us to Shepherd.
Personal Mission
To love and obey God in all seasons of life (Mark 12)
To diligently study the Scriptures (2 Timothy 2)
To value the relationships that God places in my life (1 John 3)
To love people so that they know there is a God who loves them (1 Peter 3)
Ministry Mission
To be a leader, teacher, and encourager of the people God assigns to me, so that they can successfully navigate through their spiritual walk (Ephesians 4).
My desire is for people to walk with God and desire to serve others.
My passion is to see people develop a strong personal walk with the Lord that seeks Him above all else (Psalm 1, relationships that run deep and purposeful (Hebrews 10) and a desire to share their spiritual journey with friends and acquaintances (Matt. 5)
My vision for successful ministry encompasses worship that is exalting and inspiring (1 Chronicles 16), teaching and preaching that is relevant, creative and challenging (Proverbs 4), and an environment where healthy relationships are nurtured (1 John 1)
Philosophy of Ministry and Leadership
With all my heart, I believe that God brought me into this world to preach.  Like Jeremiah, before I was in the womb God destined me to proclaim His Word.  My highest desire is not only to feed the sheep God has placed under my care but also to prepare them for a feast.
A pastor should be a teacher as well as a preacher.  One of his primary responsibilities is that of equipping the saints.  The Pastor, through preaching and teaching, should seek to impart a Biblical worldview to the congregation, equipping them to live godly lives in the community. I purposefully involve myself in the numerous training endeavors of the church, and I provide ample time during Wednesday night Bible study for questions concerning any area of Scripture, theology, or world events as they relate to a biblical perspective.
The heart of effective and powerful ministry for the church is prayer.  The Pastor must be a man of prayer and have a heart passion to lead his church to be a “house of prayer.”  Prayer is the way to God’s plans and purposes, prayer first will ensure success later.
If a church is to grow, a Pastor must be an administrator and leader.  He should be able, through the power of the Holy Spirit, not only to care for the details of daily ministry and the implementation of ongoing programs, but he must also have the ability to stir the people to action and to a vision concerning their personal lives, their church, and their community.
Every pastor is called to do the work of an evangelist.  He is greatly helped in that work if he has also been gifted as an evangelist.  It has been my privilege, through personal evangelistic encounters, to lead many to saving faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. The Pastor should equip the congregation in evangelism, by example and through preaching and teaching evangelistic material.
Among the staff, the role of the Pastor is one of guidance and coordination.  He must make sure that the programs of the church are operating in harmony, that each department is moving toward its greatest potential.  The Pastor must understand the needs of the staff both personally and corporately.  He must allow them to use their creativity and abilities in the unique capacities given to them by God.  He must give them freedom to work and demonstrate open support for their labors.  However, the staff must understand that the Pastor is the Pastor.  Thus, he has the responsibility not only to direct but also to re direct.  When the Pastor must make a difficult decision, the staff must be willing to accept that decision graciously.  Problems that develop within the staff should be kept within the staff and handled in prompt, mature, and godly fashion.
Among lay leadership, I believe that an indispensable characteristic of a growing church is a broad base of lay leadership.  The taller the structure the broader the base must be.  A church cannot be effective if all is built upon one man or a handful of people.  A pyramid is not stable when standing on one point; neither is a church.  All of the people should have some responsibility as opposed to some of the people having all the responsibility.
The Pastor and staff must see that the many leaders and workers of the church receive proper training for their specific area(s) of ministry.  Volunteers perform ably when adequately equipped and motivated.  Church leaders and workers are not to view themselves as working for the Pastor and staff but with the Pastor and staff - co laborers in the task of ministry, each with a vital and unique function within the body of Christ.  The people are not present to help the Pastor and staff do the work of the church, rather, the Pastor and staff are present to help the people do the work of the church.
Basic Statement of Faith
By Ted M. Corley

I believe in one God.
God eternally exists in three persons - Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Each is fully God yet each is personally distinct from the other.

I believe the Bible is God's unique revelation to people.
The Bible is the inspired word of God and is without error in the original writings.  It is the supreme source of truth for Christian beliefs and living. Because it is inspired by God, it is truth without any mixture of error. It is the final authority in all matters of faith and practice.

I believe God has revealed Himself to humanity.
God created the heavens and the earth. He also created all people in His image. All of this reveals God as an infinite, personal Spirit. God is perfect in wisdom, power, justice, and love. God loves people and invites them to live in communion with Himself and in community with each other.

I believe that people are separated from God.
While we were created to live in an intimate relationship with God, we all have violated His standards. People are born with a sinful nature which is expressed in our thoughts, words and behavior. The consequences of this are physical death as well as continued separation from God, which is spiritual death.

I believe that Jesus Christ came to the world to reconcile us to God.
Jesus Christ was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born to the virgin Mary. As the begotten Son of God, Jesus lived a sinless life on earth. He willingly died on a cross to take the punishment for the sins of humankind. Because He represented all of us and took our place, we can be reconciled to God. I believe Christ's crucified body rose from the dead and went to heaven where He is the advocate and mediator for all those who have a personal faith in Jesus Christ.

I believe reconciliation to God is a gift.
God offers salvation from the consequences of our sin by His grace and we receive this gift by trusting in Jesus Christ and His sacrifice on our behalf. We can not earn it through personal goodness or human effort. The reconciling work of Jesus Christ makes those who put their trust in Christ, children of God and heirs of eternal life (the Bible calls these people believers.)

I believe the Holy Spirit is the life of every believer.
The Holy spirit is present in the world to make men aware of their need for Jesus Christ. When a person begins a relationship of trust in Jesus Christ, they begin a new life with the Holy Spirit in them. The Holy Spirit empowers the believer for ministry by giving spiritual gifts with which to serve the Church and bring hope to the world. He also provides the Christian with power for living, understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance in doing what is right. The Christian seeks to live under His control daily.

I believe that God and humanity have an open and declared enemy.
Satan is the cause of the fall of humankind and the author of sin. Satan is working to destroy the souls of all people and prevent the restoration that God desires. Satan, along with all his angels, will be defeated and eternally perish in what the Bible calls the Lake of Fire. Reading the Bible, prayer, using our spiritual gifts, and living out our faith are ways believers can overcome the powers of evil led by Satan.

I believe Jesus is coming to earth again.
Jesus will consummate history by physically returning to earth. He will raise the dead, judge the world and establish His kingdom. Those who reject Christ will remain separated from God and suffer everlasting conscious punishment in hell. Believers will be received into His loving presence for all eternity.

I believe the Church is the primary instrument of God for the extension of His kingdom today.
The purpose of the church is to bring glory to God by developing devoted followers of Christ. All believers are members of the church universal called the Body of Christ. The local expression of that body is where people gather for worship, prayer, instruction, and community with each other. I believe Jesus committed two sacred practices to the Church, baptism and communion. I respect the variations in the observance of these practices among different churches and affirm the unity of the Body of Christ. I believe baptism is by immersion for those who have trusted in Jesus Christ and His sacrifice on our behalf. I believe that all born again baptized believers are welcomed to celebrate communion.

This statement reflects a contemporary summary of the central doctrines in the Bible. These doctrines are commonly considered the essentials of historic, biblical orthodoxy. This statement is consistent with the doctrines of the Apostles Creed, the Baptist Faith and Message 2000,  and the Lausanne Covenant, which grew out of the Lausanne Congress on World Evangelization (1974)
